Thank you to everyone for your support this year. I was able to see many old friends as well as make some new ones. I have started on some new adventures and ended others. This year has definitely seen many changes!

This year I began a collaboration with a few new galleries. Two of them happen to be at the Phoenix airport - Mosaic and Indigenous. Stop by if you are passing through Sky Harbor and check out the latest Raven and Native American art adorning the walls.

My art will now permanently reside in a new museum in Mississippi dedicated to the history of local indigenous peoples. This was a very exciting project for me. Below is one of the images of the Mound story of creation.

The Choctaw Nation presented "Uncle Willie's Birth" with the Best of Show and purchased it for their museum

I now have many of my raven art in a new 20x20 format! Oops, one of them already sold!

If you happen to be in the Prescott area, please visit the special five month exhibit "The People Speak" featuring many native artists past and present. A dozen of my original works are in this exhibit including one of my painted buffalo skulls.

AND AGAIN THANK YOU to everyone for your support this year. I look forward to seeing and hearing from you in 2017. My next show will be the Heard Museum Indian Market in March in downtown Phoenix. Hope to see you there!

I ALMOST FORGOT!!  -  My loyal assistant Jack insisted his photo be included. His input has been invaluable and I could not have done it without him. He is obviously well compensated for his efforts.

A SNEAK PREVIEW of new works available at the upcoming Sedona Arts Festival in October. Each of the following is an original painting on wood set in a solid wood shadow box frame. The dimension of the outer frame is 8" x 8".

The owls you see below are archival canvas prints which have been framed in the same type shadow box as the original paintings shown above.

This is just a sample of work I will have available at the show. Larger paintings and prints will also be for sale. The good news - if you can't be at the show or can't wait until then, just contact me and I can arrange to have a painting sent directly to you. Two weeks from now marks the opening of the Phippen Museum Western Art Show here in downtown Prescott Arizona. The show's 40th anniversary event will be held on May 24th, 25th and 26th at the Courthouse Square in the center of town. I will again be participating in the Quick Draw event where I will have the chance to paint a masterpiece in 45 minutes while everyone stands and watches!

Here is a preview of some recently completed pieces I will have available in BOOTH 170, which is on the Cortez Street side of the Courthouse.

"My Last Wish" which won first place at the last Choctaw Art Show will also be on display.  There will be original "murders of Crows and Ravens" in oil and some fine art reproductions. If you would like me to bring a specific print or painting just let me know. Let's talk about cowboys and indians and celebrate crows and ravens - what could be more fun!

I just received my copy of the November edition of Southwest Art. Check out their special focus article on figurative painters.  I am so honored to be in this magazine!  "The Goddess Within" is a portrait of my daughter Laurissa.  Laurissa is expecting her first child any day now. She has been the muse for much of my art throughout the years.

Hope to see you this weekend October 12-13 at the Sedona Arts Festival.  I will be in booth C01 right near the front entrance. I will have lots of art work - including new 4"x4" canvas giclees of my favorite ravens, as well as the usual 10" x 10".  I will also have 20"x10" giclees of my newest oil painting,  "Raven Quest" which can also be seen in Southwest Art.

The painting below will be one of many pieces of art to be raffled at the festival. 100% of the money earned from the raffle will go to scholarships for Sedona area graduating seniors who are pursuing higher education in the arts.

Thanks to everyone who showed up at the Phippen Show this summer. It was great to see old friends and meet new ones. I had a great time doing the one hour Quick Draw.

It's been an exciting month for me. I won Best of Show and First Place in the Painting Category in the Choctaw Indian Art Show in Tvshka Homma, Oklahoma.

"My Last Wish"  - First Place Oil
"Ancient Symbols I and II" - Best of Show

Some exciting news - I will be part of a featured article in Southwest Art magazine in the November issue. The focus of the article will be figurative painters. The chosen painting for this article is a portrait of my daughter Laurissa entitled "The Goddess Within".

"The Goddess Within"

Another milestone - my website has been redone! You will now be able to see many more paintings, especially ravens and crows. The site also contains a link to my Etsy shop where you can easily purchase originals and prints using your credit card.

UPCOMING SHOWS: If you are in the Sedona area during the second week of October, be sure to come by and visit me at the Sedona Arts Festival.  I will be located right by the front entrance. The date for the festival is October 12 and 13 at the Sedona Red Rock High School. The High School is located on the west side of town. Be sure to watch the video and see if you can recognize me! This is my second and next to the last show of the year. The last show of the year will be on November 1-3 at the Carefree Fine Art and Wine Festival in Carefree, Arizona.

This weekend will be full of fun and lots of art here in Prescott. I will be on the square during the Memorial Day Holiday May 25, 26 and 27. Come by to see the Quick Draw and Auction at 2:00 on Saturday. I will attempt to create a painting in one hour! Some of my new works being offered at the Phippen Art Show this weekend.....

"Vision Quest"
18 x 18 Oil on Board with shadow box frame
Based on a photo of Medicine Crow -  an Absaroke.

When a person is on a vision quest, he must have certain attitudes and intentions for his prayers to be sincere, and then he must carry these over into his daily life. - Indian Spirit, 2006 World Vision

"Sun Dance"
20 x 20 Oil on Board with shadow box frame
Based on a photo of American Horse - an Oglala Lakota

The Sun Dance is the greatest ceremony that the Oglala do. It is a sacred ceremony in which all people have a part. - Indian Spirit, 2006 World Vision

"Last Gift"
20 x 20 Oil on Board with shadow box frame
Based on a photo by White Whirlwind - an Oglala Lakota

The attitude of the Indian toward death, the test and background of life, is entirely consistent with his character and philosophy. Death has no terror for him; he meets it with simplicity and perfect calm, seeking only an honorable end as his last gift to his family and descendants. -  Indian Spirit, 2006 World Vision

39 x 25 graphite drawing with colored pencil
Drawing of Eric LaBlanc

This drawing was just framed and then photographed, so there is a slight glare.  It is under museum quality conservation glass and accented with a double mat. I am going to enter it in the Phippen Museum's Drawing competition.  Come by and see it in person! Unfortunately I did not finish my oil painting so it will not be in the competition this year.

New Ravens set in an 8x8 shadow frame for $150 each. Well, the one in pink is really a parrot, I just thought I would slip him in. Each raven is painted in oil and of course comes with a certificate of authenticity (as do all my paintings).
