Raven in the window? The secondary frame isn't really crooked, I just can't seem to get a good photo taken. Mixed media 12 x 12.

Oil on board - mounted to another board.

My attempt at folk art representation. Mixed media on board, which is then mounted on another board - thus the shadow and 3D effect.

The beginning of a new painting.  I've got birds on the brain!

Raven WIP

Yesterday I started painting a raven.  Two of my raven paintings sold last week so I am trying to replenish my stock.  The Heard Museum Indian Market is in less than a month!  I want to have some ravens in the show!

Julian WIP #5

Today I worked on blocking in the crow and filling in more of the buffalo robe.  Again, it's hard to photograph this wet painting and not get the shine.

Julian WIP #4

Worked on the edges of the buffalo hide today.  Even though it looks very light, by tomorrow it will have darkened considerably and will be ready for another layer.

Julian WIP #3

I am still planning on demoing this painting during the art reception on February 24 at the gallery. Now that I have added some medium to the paint it is a little harder to photograph as there is a slight glare.  I'm starting to put the foundation for the buffalo hide down and refining the shadows and lights on the face and hair.

Steve WIP2

The drawing of Steve continues.  Took it down to the gallery and did some work on the hat and added more detail to the whiskers.  Steve dropped by and approved!

Steve WIP

I had the pleasure of meeting Steve at the gallery the other day and he posed for pictures.  Steve is a Veteran of the Vietnam war as well as an artist.  Soon he will be traveling back to Oklahoma to see his grandchildren.  I plan on having this portrait done so he can take a copy of it with him.  Tomorrow I will work on it down at the gallery while the whole town is celebrating being named number one Western town in the USA. Go Prescott!  Hope to see all the Buscaderos there!
